




PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Behavioral Health program is an introduction to mental health casework, clinical interviewing techniques, therapeutic intervention strategies, patient evaluation procedures, patient and family counseling, social rehabilitation, patient care planning, record-keeping, and psychology The program includes instruction in mental health theory, applied psychopathology, patient communication and management, crisis intervention, psychotropic medication, mental health treatment procedures, substance abuse, record-keeping, and clinical administrative skills.

Here are some of the things you can look forward to while in the program:
WORK BASED LEARNING
The behavioral health program incorporates both medical skills such as patient vitals as well as practicing patient interactions, mock therapy sessions and various scenarios which include role play to develop skill and confidence.
PROJECTS
My Patient Project - Students select someone who has committed numerous heinous crimes. Students research, complete a medical file with early childhood events, psych evaluations, and ending with the diagnosis they would have picked for their patient.
The Brain - Students study the brain and its major functions, then create a 3D model of the brain.
Group Therapy - Students run many mock therapy sessions, from Art, Group Talk, meditation, etc. Students learn what it is like to be a participant and also get the opportunity to run the group sessions.
